Transport
If you need to reach Lugano from another European country you can either do it by train or by plane.
a) By train. Lugano is situated on the Gotthard railway line from Milan to Germany. A train each hour circulates from Basle and from Zurich to Lugano (travel time 3h/4h). To the south, a train each hour circulates from Milan to Lugano (travel time slighty longer than 1h).
For more information check the
Swiss Railway timetable.
b) By plane you can flight either to the Lugano-Agno airport or to the Milano-Malpensa airport.
Lugano-Agno has frequent connections to Zurich with correspondences to most European destinations, and to Geneva. From the airport you reach the town centre by taxi (about 30' and 20 euros prices).
Milan-Malpensa has direct connections to most European destination with quite frequent flight to large towns. The airport is about 1h from Lugano; there is a shuttle bus till the train station of Lugano each hour. We are considering organizing a special bus for Friday afternoon: please indicate your needs on the registration form. As a reference you could reach Malpensa at about 17.30 - 18.00 PM, thus having the possibility of getting flights leaving after 19 PM.
